FAQ

Kitchens

Log cabins have an indoor kitchenette and prospector tents have an outdoor kitchenette on the porch.  Both include propane cook-top, ice box, dishes and separate water for drinking and washing.  Neither the cabins nor tents are plumbed so all wash water must be emptied into five-gallon pails provided.

Dishes

Log cabins and prospector tents come with all dishes for cooking and eating.  Dishes are expected to be clean when you check-out or additional charges will be applied.

Firewood

Firewood is available to purchase for outdoor bonfires and is $10/bag.  A crate is enough wood for 1-2 bonfires.  Please respect our forest and do not scavenge wood for fires from it.

Fireworks

We do not permit fireworks to be used on-site.

Canoe/ Kayak / Stand Up Paddleboard

We have six canoes, two kayaks and two SUPs available for guests to use.  You may also bring your own.  We also have paddles and life-jackets available in a variety of sizes.

Minimum Night Stay

Minimum stay is two nights except on summmer weekends (July long to September long) as well as long weekends when the minimum stay is three nights.  We will make an exception and allow a one night stay if it within a few days of when you wish to stay and the unit is still available.

Composting Toilets

In order to reduce water usage we exclusively offer composting toilets.  Prospector tents have two shared public toilets located nearby.  Log cabins have a private toilet in each unit. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet located in the public shower building and another public toilet on the path to the dock.

What to Bring

All you need to bring are the clothing, bedding, toiletries, towels and food you need for your stay although a good book and a game or two are also highly recommended.  We also recommend bringing a flashlight in case you need to go anywhere during the night.  If you are planning to use the shower or purchase firewood, you should also bring cash and specifically loonies for the shower.

Parking

All units are accessed on foot, and some require traversing uneven ground and climbing staircases. Prospector tents are up a double staircase and are 70 meters from the tent parking lot.  Log cabins and retro campers are between 10 and 30 meters from their parking lot. Tiny cabins Milkweed and Aster are up a staircase and are 30 meters from parking. Tiny Cabins Cattail, Fiddlehead and Lichen are 30 to 50 meters from parking. We also have an upper parking lot available for visitors and those guests wishing to park boats, trailers, etc.  For winter rentals we require all wheel drive for getting in here. Only Hawthorne is available for winter rental and the shower building will be closed.
